Adapted from: Cooks.com

Total Time: 30 minutes | Serves: 4–6

A from-scratch BBQ sauce built on sautéed onions, tomato sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, Worcestershire, and mustard — simmered down to a thick, tangy glaze that gets poured over lightly browned boneless beef or pork ribs and baked until the meat is completely tender. Honest, straightforward, and deeply satisfying.

Ingredients

The Ribs:

  • 2 lbs boneless beef or pork ribs

The BBQ Sauce:

  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1/3 cup olive or peanut oil
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp prepared mustard
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown the ribs slightly in a skillet over medium-high heat on all sides. Transfer to a baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan, cook the onions in the oil over medium heat until tender but not browned.
  3. Add all remaining sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Pour the sauce over the ribs in the baking dish. Cover tightly with foil.
  5. Bake at 350°F until the meat is completely tender — about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on thickness.
